"X" Marks the Spot!
But really, that X in the picture taken after my first biopsy shows the location of the largest indicator that appeared on my body. It was not until I went to a checkup appointment at my local primary care doctor to investigate a completely separate health concern, that a bulge was noticed on the left side of my neck.
Doctor: *as she is checking my breathing and feeling around my upper body*
"Is this new?" referring to the the lump...
Me: *feels both sides of my neck, comparing and realizing quickly the mass she is referring to
"Yep! I guess so [laughing]
Fast forward by a few doctors appointments, multiple scans, and analysis of symptoms that I did not realize the severity of, a conclusion was reached. The lump was an indication of the cancer in my body that turned out to be not just a swollen lump on my neck (his name is Lewis the Lymph Node), but also a mass living within my chest area, and two other problematic lymph nodes below the beltline. This information proved that I was no longer "crazy" for noticing more shortness of breath, fatigue, cold sweats, and weight loss- to name a few of the side effects of the cancer being present in my body.
